The Moon and the Nightspirit-Diskografi

1. Kendinizi okuyuculara tanitabilir misiniz? The Moon and the Nightspirit 2003'te Agnes ve benim (Mihaly) tarafimdan kuruldu. Onceleri sadece bir yan projeydi, muziksel bi deney, full-time bir grup degil, cunku o zamanlar bir Macar gothic metal grubunun (Evensong) uyeleriydik. Pagan kulturu ve bilgeligi hep ilgimizi cekmisti, atalarimizin ruhsal ve muziksel mirasi, eskinin uzun zaman once unutulmus hikayeleri, ve The Moon and the Nightspirit icin birkac parca yazdiktan sonra farkettik ki bu her zaman yapmak istedigimiz muzikti, uzun zamandir aradigimiz yol, gercekte ait oldugumuz dunya. Bu, bayan vokallerin eslik ettigi, keman, akustik gitar, tahta flut, davul gibi enstrumanlar tarafindan calinan bir muzik. Eski folk ve şamanist bir muzik. Hayalcilerden hayalcilere aktarilan bir muzik. 2. The Moon and the Nightspirit (Ay ve Gecenin Ruhu) hayalgucume cok hitap eden bir isim. Ismin arkasindaki hikaye nedir? Ifade dolu, sembolik, derin bir anlam tasiyan bir isim istedik. "Ay" dişiligi sembolize ediyor ve "Gecenin Ruhu" da doganin eril yanini. Ay ilham perisidir, eski bilgeligin bekcisi, butun sirlari bilen tek kisidir, (Toprak) Ana'dir. Gecenin ruhu arayicidir, ruyalari dolasan, "Cocuk"tur. Ay efendiyse, gecenin ruhu havarisidir. 3. Yakin bir zamanda buyuleyici bir rock albumu olan "Of Dreams Forgotten and Fables Untold"u piyasaya surdunuz. Muziksel ve liriksel açıdan albumdeki Macar etkisinden bahsedeblir misiniz? En buyuk esin kaynagimiz atalarimizin ruhsal ve muziksel mirasidir. Macaristan kendine ozgu masallariyla, hikaleyleriyle, mitleri ve efsaneleriyle kendine ozgu bir ulkeydi. Hristyanlik oncesi donemde cok zengin bir kulture sahiptiler. Doganin guclerine ve Toprak Ana'ya taparlar, baskalarinin takip etmedigi bir ruhsal yolu izlerlerdi. 4. Macarca sarki sozleri gercekten ilgi cekici, ama cogu dinleyicinize gore gizemli ve anlasilmaz. Sitenize tercumelerini ya da en azindan hikayelerin ozetlerini koysaniz? Evet, sitemize tercumeleri koymayi planliyoruz zaten ama önceden belirtelim: Albumdeki ilk Macarca parcanin ismi "Egi Taltos" ve bu basligi baska herhangi bir dile cevirmek gercekten zor. "Egi", göğe ait, gökte yasayan anlamina geliyor. Ve "Taltos" da Macar efsanelerinde yer alan buyulu bir savas atinin ismi, ayni zamanda da eski Macar şamanlarina/şifacilarina verilen isim. Bu sarkinin konusu eski gelenekleri ve uzun zaman once unutulmus yasam bicimlerini diriltmek. Bir diger parcaysa “Holdanyánk”, "Ay Ana" anlamina geliyor. Bu Ana Tanricaya, eski bilgeligin bekcisi'ne bir dua. Muziksel olarak bu iki parcada Macar folk muzikleri işleniyor. Bu yuzden bu sarkilarda ana dilimizi kullanmaya karar verdik. Macarca şarki sozleri muzigimize Ingilizceden daha iyi uyum sagliyor. 5. Sadece iki uyeniz (ve bir de konuk uye) oldugu icin her biriniz birden fazla enstruman calmak durumundasiniz. Gelecekte canli performanslar yapmayi dusunuyor musunuz ve eger dusunuyorsaniz seyirci ne beklemeli? The Moon and the Nightspirit full-time bir grup, studyo agirlikli bir projeden ibaret degil. Cok yakin bir zamanda konuk uyelerin de yardimiyla mumkun oldugunca cok konsere cikmayi planliyoruz. Sampler ya da cdler olmayacak, herseyi canli calacagiz. 6. Cdnizin kapak resmi cok tatli, ve anladigim kadariyla ikiniz beraber cizmissiniz. Cdye buyulu ve daha konsept bir hava katmis. Baska calismalariniz da var mi, sergi actiginiz oluyor mu? Eger baska calismalariniz varsa sergileri canli performanslarinizla birlestirmeyi dusunuyor musunuz? Cok sag olun!... Album kapagi Agnes tarafindan hazirlandi. Gercekten yetenekli, ama resim yapmak onun icin sadece hobi. Ama onun calismalarindan birini gelecek album icin da kullanmayi dusunuyoruz. Sergileri canli performanslarla birlestirmek gercekten de harika bir fikir. Gorsellik cok onemli. Hem gorsel hem de muziksel olarak guzel konserler duzenlemek icin elimizden geleni yapacagiz. 7. Mihaly, gelecek albumlerde daha cok vokal yapacak misin? (Bir yorumdaki elestiri sebebiyle soruyorum) Durust olmak gerekirse pek de iyi bir sarkici sayilmam, ama evet, gelecek parcalarda erkek geri vokaller daha cok olacak. 8. Hangi gruplardan esinleniyorsunuz? Kendi yolumuzdan gitmeyi tercih ediyoruz, ama bir sekilde kalbimize ya da ruhumuza erisen ya da duygulandiran her sey bize esin kaynagi oluyor, muzik, kitap ya da film farketmez. 9. Mihaly ve Agnes, beraber misiniz? (Ve evetse, bu The Moon and the Nightspirit'in surec ve muzigini nasil etkiliyor?) Evet, beraberiz. TMATN askimizin urunu, hayatimizin, yasadigimiz hatta yasamak istedigimiz dunyanin muziksel yansimasi. 10. Okuyucularimizla paylasmak istediginiz baska bir sey var mi? Bu firsat icin çok teşekkurler. 1.Could you introduce yourself to the readers of Gothtronic.com? The Moon and the Nightspirit was formed in 2003 by Agnes and me (Mihaly). In the beggining it was only a side-project, a musical experiment of ours, not a full-time band, due to the fact that we were members of a hungarian gothic metal band (Evensong) at the time. We've always been interested in the pagan culture and wisdom, the spiritual and musical heritage of our ancestors, the long-forgotten tales of the old, and after writing a few songs for The Moon and the Nightspirit we realized that this was the music we always wanted to play, the path we've been searching for all the time, the world where we truly belong. So we decided to quit our former band in order to pull all our efforts and emotions into The Moon and the Nightspirit. In 2004 we recorded a promotional EP, which gave us the record deal with Portuguese Equilibrium Music. In the summer of 2005, after a short song-writing period, we entered hungarian Elysion studio again to record our debut album "Of dreams forgotten and fables untold". It is a music played by acoustic instruments such as violin, acoustic guitars, woodwinds and frame drums accompanied by female vocals. A music that draws on ancient folk and shamanistic music. A music from dreamers to dreamers. 2. The Moon And The Nightspirit is a name that speaks a lot to my imagination. What is the story behind the name? W e wanted a name full of expression, something that is symbolical, something with a deeper meaning. “Moon” symbolizes the feminine and “Nightspirit” the masculine side of nature. Moon is the muse, the guardian of ancient wisdom, who knows all secrets one alone, the Mother,. Nightspirit is, the seeker, the wanderer of dreams, the Child. Moon is the Master, Nightspirit is the Disciple. 3. You have just released “Of Dreams Forgotten And Fables Untold”, a quite enthralling folk cd, which is laced with Hungarian folklore. Could you tell something about the Hungarian influence, musical and lyrical wise? Our greatest source of inspiration was/is t he spiritual and musical heritage of our ancestors.They had a very rich culture from times before christianity. They were a nation with unique fables, tales, myths and legends. They trod a spiritual path that is quite singular, worshipping the forces of nature and Mother Earth. 4. The Hungarian lyrics are interesting, but mysterious and incomprehensible for the most of your listeners. Would you place translations on your website (or summarizations of the content)? Yes, we are planning to place translations on our website, but here is a summarization in advance: The first Hungarian song on the album is“Egi Taltos”; It is very difficult to translate this title to any other language. “Égi” means celestial, the one who dwells in the sky, and “Táltos” is a magical steed of Hungarian fables and legends, and it is also the name of the ancient Hungarian shamans/healers. This is a song about the revival of old traditions and the long-forgotten ways of life. The other one is “Holdanyánk”, which means “Mother Moon”.This is a prayer to the Mother, to the Goddess, t he Guardian of ancient wisdom. Musically these two tracks draws mostly on the traditional Hungarian folk music. That is why we decided to use our mother tongue in them. Hungarian lyrics fit them better than English would . 5. As you are only with two members (and one guest member), each playing multiple instruments. Are you doing or planning to do performances, and if yes, what can the spectator expect? The Moon and the Nightspirit is a full-time band, not a mere “studio-orientated” project. We are planning to play as many live gigs as possible in the near future with the help of guest musicians. No samplers or Cds...everything will be played live. 6. The cover painting of the cd is lovely, and I understand you painted it together. It enhances the cd, making it more of a concept. Do you have more work, and do you do expositions? If you have more work, what do you think of the idea to combine expositions with live-performances? (concept performance) Thank you very much!..The cover was made by Agnes. She is a real talent, but painting/drawing is only a hobby for her. However we will use one of her works for the cover of our next album as well. Combining expositions with live-performances is indeed a great idea. Visuality is very important. We'll do our best to do concerts that are enjoyable both musically and visually. 7. Mihaly, are you going to sing more in future songs? (Referring to the one critical note in the review) To be honest I am not a very good singer, but yes there will be more male backing vocals in the future songs. 8. Which bands influence you? We are trying to walk our own path, b ut everything that somehow reach our heart and soul, or evokes feelings in us influence us, be it a music, a book or a film. Of course there are bands/artists whose works we love. Artists like Andrea “Nebelhexe” Haugen, Loreena McKennit or Marta Sebestyen (Hungarian folk singer). 9. Mihaly and Agnes, are you a couple? (and if yes, how does this influence the process and the music of The Moon And The Nightspirit?) Yes we are a couple. TMATN is the outcome of our love, the musical projection of our life, the world we are living in, or even the world we would both like to live in. 10. Is there anything else you would like to share with the Gothtronic readers?
